Meet Dr. Murray
I am a licensed psychologist based in Nashville, Tennessee, providing therapy to adolescents and adults who are seeking healing, deeper self-understanding, and more meaningful relationships. I believe that our earliest experiences and relationships shape the ways we see ourselves, connect with others, and navigate the world. While these patterns often develop as ways of protecting us, they can sometimes leave us feeling stuck, disconnected, or unable to live as fully as we desire. Therapy offers a space to approach these patterns with curiosity and compassion and to discover new ways of relating to yourself and others.
I work with clients experiencing trauma and PTSD, anxiety, OCD, depression, relationship concerns, identity development, life transitions, religious trauma, and spirituality. My approach is rooted in humanistic psychology, with influences from psychodynamic and feminist perspectives. I view therapy as a collaborative relationship where you are welcomed as your whole self: your emotions, your strengths, your struggles, and the parts of your story that may have been difficult to share elsewhere.
In our work together, I strive to create a warm, authentic, and nonjudgmental environment where meaningful conversation can unfold. I invite clients to slow down, notice their emotional experiences, explore moments of connection and disconnection, and develop greater understanding of the beliefs, relationships, and larger systems that shape their lives. Although growth can involve discomfort and vulnerability, these moments often become opportunities for deeper healing, self-acceptance, and lasting change.
My clinical training includes earning a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the Fuller School of Psychology in Pasadena, California, where I also earned a master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and a master’s degree in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary. I completed my postdoctoral training at Vanderbilt University’s University Counseling Center, where I worked with a diverse community of emerging adults facing a wide range of emotional and relational concerns.
I am licensed to provide psychological services in Tennessee and can also offer telehealth services to clients located in PSYPACT participating states.
"Growth is not simply a matter of learning new things. It is more often about unlearning old ones — old habits, old fears, old stories."
